Enigmatic smile of a woman on this painting, also known as La Gioconda, became the subject of speculation and many rumors. The latest research shows that smile belongs to a woman after childbirth, because they found traces of the original painting, where the Mona Lisa's face is covered by the thin shawl which Florentine women wore during and direct after childbirth. There is however no certainity, that the portrait of the woman in the painting belongs to the wife of the Florentine banker del Gioconda, or to some unknownn courtesan. The painting was completed in 1506. It can be found today in the Louvre.
