Roger de La Fresnaye (1885-1925). French cubist painter of aristocratic origin. La Fresnaye’s paintings are his response to cubism. Influenced particularly by Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso, despite his works being more colourful and decorative while being less schematic. He was drafted during the First World War, but released in 1918 due to tuberculosis, to which he succumbed a few years later.
