Richard Wilson (1714-1782) was an influential Classicist landscape painter, who along with George Lambert was recognized as a pioneer and a very important artist. After his studies, Wilson visited Italy and, following the advice of Francesco Zuccarelli, began to paint landscapes - Agnano Lake with Vesuvius in the Background.
