Franz Joseph married in 1854 his cousin Elisabeth of Bavaria. He became one of the longest reigning monarchs in the world and he probably had in his 86 years the highest age of all the Habsburg rulers. For a short time (from 17 October 1916 to his death on November 21, 1916) and the longest-reigning monarch of the world. He received his nickname "Old Walk" during his visit to Prague, thanks to a label "Walk on the bridge" in the Czech newspaper Světozor on 12 June 1901. (At that time, Franz Josef I. opening inaugurated the bridge, now called Legion bridge.) However, according to historian Otto Urban was this nickname much older and came from the 1870s, when the imperial procession heralded a horseman with the surname Walk. This version is supported by research historian Jiri Rak, who inspected all the newspapers of the time and found that no such a label below emperor's photo on a bridge. (Source: wikipedie.org).
