Poppies

Date: 1896
Medium: oil on canvas
Location: Hungarian National Gallery, Budapest, Hungary

The Poppy painting comes from the impressionism Pála Merse Szinyei. This Hungarian painter painted landscapes with poppies from 1895. In them he expressed his feelings from his youth. Like Monet, Merse also noticed the contrast between green and red. It evoked fantastic "vibrations" in the eyes of the observer. This feeling did not allow for more details. The painting shows the Hungarian landscape on a clear day.

Szinyei Merse painted picture Poppies in 1896. Prevailing color of this fine art print is green and its shape is long. This art piece is located in Hungarian National Gallery, Budapest, Hungary. This image is printed on demand - you can choose material, size and finishing.

Pál Szinyei Merse (1845-1920). Hungarian painter and politician, who ranked among the best in Central Europe. His first important painting (Breakfast in Nature from 1873) was misunderstood by critics. After this failure, the artist devoted himself to politics for 20 years. However, he eventually returned to art and began to celebrate great success in large European cities (even with his painting The May Picnic). He developed a specific style of work with colour and light. He founded the first Hungarian Society of Modern Art and the Circle of Hungarian Impressionists. After his death, his students influenced the Hungarian art scene for a long time.
