Nude

Date: 1918
Medium: watercolours
Location: private collection

Not every act tends erotic nature. Often, women were shown naked only for the purpose of rendering mythical characters - nymphs, goddesses or myriad. Such figures are often devoid of emotion, their eyes are turned to the unknown, and their souls are not included in the image. By contrast Schiele images painfully human. Schiele face, body writhes in anger, sadness, love, passion and uncertainty. The character in this painting is partly veiled, yellow blanket is draped over her legs, hiding her hands. The head is bent and the way that seeks to obscure its left arm, screaming kind of hidden emotion. Maybe shame, maybe despair. The whole body of woman is also taken out of context, so we do not know even where the woman is and what causes its slightly cramped pose.

Schiele painted picture Nude in 1918. Prevailing color of this fine art print is orange and its shape is landscape. This art piece is located in a private collection This image is printed on demand - you can choose material, size and finishing.

Egon Schiele (1890-1918). Unconventional Viennese artist representing a significant milestone Viennese painting. He quickly broke away from the German movement of new art (Jugendstil) and began to paint in his typical style, with agonizing existential passion for the human body. He painted openly with reference to human sexuality (the images fit into the era when Freud was formulating his theories). Schiele’s paintings are dark, aggressive, and unusual. However, they are thoughtful, excite emotions, and comprise of fascinating drawing and composition. Schiele was tortured by existence, sexuality and the realities of life. His fame grew during his life, although it was very short: after World War I, his wife and child died to typhoid fever and Schiele died after a short time himself.
