The Golden Knight, by Gustav Klimt from 1902, is one of Klimt's golden period paintings. The entire image is dominated by a knight inspiring courage and bravery. He stares straight ahead while firmly holding a large sword in his left hand. We can also notice the painting on the wall behind the knight, where there are two women. A woman standing on the left with dark hair holds a green circle while the woman next to her has her hands clasped and her head bowed. The whole image inspires strength and a sense of victory.

Among Klimt’s famous works are the Water Snakes - two women with stylized, interwoven bodies that evoke the surreal world of fantasy and sensuality. Another masterpiece is Danae, a work inspired by Greek mythology, depicting a girl seized by Zeus, who was turned into a golden rain (Danae later gave birth to Perseus). His paintings often aroused passions and public protests, not only for their content but also for the innovative painting methods - eg. The Girlfriends, an image of two women at a romantic meeting.
