Winslow Homer (1836-1910). American painter and illustrator. His first works were influenced by naturalistic romanticism – he used light as a dramatic device that created idealized and poetic landscapes (mostly near the Hudson River). In 1867, Homer moved to France and under the influence of Impressionism, his style of painting changed.
