This painting is a collage of several other paintings - so it is not the work of Klimt himself. The five paintings that make up this painting can also be commissioned separately.
The painting is a wider part of the decoration of the Palais Stoclet in Brussels. It is a dining room mosaic inspired by Egyptian, Byzantine and Japanese art. This series we are printing is made up of studies for this decoration. That is why you will find Klimt's notes on the realisation. We print the whole series in such a way that the individual panels are roughly related to each other. The central motif of the painting - Tree of Life - then also in one piece.
It reworks themes from the last part of Beethoven Frieze, Choir of the Angels of Paradise and Polibek. All the paintings feature similar pairs of each other. The bent-over man embraces the woman, suggesting a spiritual and physical connection, as in The Kiss. Klimt often put the contrast between quadrangular and circular shapes in his works. He thus illustrated the differences between man and woman.
Prevailing color of this fine art print is yellow and its shape is landscape. This image is printed on demand - you can choose material, size and finishing.
