Medium: oil on canvas Location: private collection
The painting depicts a hazy figure of a woman in a watery or airy environment, which has an ethereal, almost translucent quality. Her silhouette is highlighted by light and shadows, giving the composition a dreamlike and mystical quality. She is carried by a current with an uncertain direction, while the background is entangled in mysterious hues and textures.

Henri Fantin-Latour (1836-1904). French romantic painter known for his portraits of Parisian artists and floral still lifes. From the beginning of his career, he devoted himself to copying paintings by old masters. Perhaps that is why he barely touched on Impressionism, although he was in contact with Impressionist artists. Under the influence of Whistler, he directed his attention to England, where he began to sell his still lifes. He did so well in England that in his native France, his paintings become almost unknown. Later, he started focusing on lithography that symbolically expressed the music of Wagner.
