The image shows a group of women in antique style dancing or moving in dynamic positions. Their clothing is ornate and colorful, reminiscent of the fabrics of ancient Greece or Rome. The scene is lit in a way that emphasizes the movement and forms of their bodies, while the background remains in darkness. The overall impression is one of brightness, energy and perhaps ecstasy. The style of the painting suggests that it could belong to the Renaissance or Baroque periods.

Henri Fantin-Latour (1836-1904). French romantic painter known for his portraits of Parisian artists and floral still lifes. From the beginning of his career, he devoted himself to copying paintings by old masters. Perhaps that is why he barely touched on Impressionism, although he was in contact with Impressionist artists. Under the influence of Whistler, he directed his attention to England, where he began to sell his still lifes. He did so well in England that in his native France, his paintings become almost unknown. Later, he started focusing on lithography that symbolically expressed the music of Wagner.
