Munch's The Scream exists in several versions - an oil and tempera from 1893 (which is this version), a tempera from 1910 and two pastels, also from 1893 and 1895. The Scream is Munch's most famous painting. Munch used simple colors and simplified forms. The main character is reduced to a face, which reflects emotional crisis and psychological suffering. Munch's aim in painting The Scream was "to paint a study of the human soul, which means a study of the self". Munch, on a walk with friends, witnessed a sunset that drenched the sky in blood colour, dissolving over the black waters of the fjord. Munch was literally shaken by the sight - "I heard the mighty and endless cry of nature... Then I gave up all hope of loving again". Prevailing color of this fine art print is vivid and its shape is portrait. This image is printed on demand - you can choose material, size and finishing.
