With the image of the Ballerina, Degas returns to the already tasted fruit in his work - resting ballerinas. At the same time, he returns to a style of painting in which he suppresses details, erases features in the face and body, and endows the characters with anonymity. Although he still works in his old style, the Ballets are innovative in their size and composition and undoubtedly belong to the period referred to as Degas's classic period. This was in response to the calls of many critics who objected to the abundance of colors used or the lines that did not correspond to contemporary painting ideals. Ballet flats are thus a certain manifesto. This work is the forerunner of an impressive series of ballet giants that Edgar Degas produced between 1890 and 1900.
