The water lilies belong to a series of about 250 oil paintings by the French impressionist Claude Monet. The paintings depict a flower garden in Giverny, which Monet himself adapted to his own image. This is also why his garden became the main focus of his artistic work during the last 30 years of his life. Many of these works were also created when Monet was already suffering from cataracts.
