Gerrard ter Borch (1617-1681) was a
Dutch master. He received his art education from his father. Once he acquired a basic art education, his father sent him on study trips to Germany, Italy, France and Spain. There, he was awarded a knighthood by Philip IV, but because intrigues, he had to return to Holland. Finally, he settled in Deventer, where he lived happily.
