Lawrence Alma-Tadema (1836-1912). British painter of Dutch origin. He was educated at the Royal Academy of Antwerp. In 1870 he settled in England. Painted classical motifs - mostly luxury (and decadence) of the Roman Empire, its stature has advocated to the beautiful marble interior, against the background of dazzling blue sea and sky. Detailed and realistic prokresloval objects in his paintings, masterfully managed reflections marble, metal objects. He was obsessed with precision - often painted architecture or things according to reality (perhaps in a museum). He kept the flowers from Africa carry a large rush is painted until the fresh ...
