On his cruise around the coast of Europe, he painted the landscape and French port cities- Port of Saint Tropez or Port of Rotterdam. In 1884, he met Claude Monet. Another important painter he met was Vincent Van Gogh. They became friends and often made painting trips to Asnières-sur-Seine. Signac was married and lived in Saint Tropez, where he had his studio at the time of his greatest glory. His other hobby besides his work was sailing. He circled countless ports in France and the Netherlands, bringing with him a number of sketches and paintings that he finished in the studio, such as the View of the Seine. Paul Signac died on August 15th, 1935 in Paris and was cremated.
