In 1621, Pope Gregory XV invited him to Rome to decorate several religious buildings with frescoes. After the death of Pope, he left Rome and painted larger commissions for Christian orders - Madonna and Baby. During his life, he made about 100 large altarpieces and another 150 works. He never married and so his property, which was considerable, was inherited by his nephew.
