Pieter Brueghel the Younger (1564-1636). Flemish painter most famous for countless copies of his father’s works, Pieter Brueghel the Elder . For his great ability to depict fire, he was nicknamed Hell Brueghel. His father died when he was five, and along with his brother and sister Maria, he lived with his grandmother Mayken Verhulst, who was a painter herself and probably also the first teacher of painting for her grandchildren. Pieter Brueghel the Younger painted landscapes, religious themes and fanciful motifs.
