Eugene Samuel Grasset (1845-1917). Swiss illustrator and painter living in Paris. He was a pioneer of the painting style and design called Art Nouveau. He admired Japanese art. He created the image of jewellery, porcelain, furniture, tapestries and sculptures. In the early 80s of the 19th century, he focused on graphics – he designed stamps, posters, cover pages of magazines, advertisements, and the like. For his talent, the French art posters became known even in the USA. Thus, Grasset aided in the massive expansion of Art Nouveau in the United States.
