Walter Crane (1845-1915). English painter and illustrator, regarded as the most influential creator of the children books of his generation. He was influenced by Japanese paintings. In 1862, his exhibited his painting Lady Shallotte at the Royal Academy of Painting, but the Academy rather rejected his piece. His work includes sculpture, glass, ceramics and wallpaper. In his masterpieces, he applied the principles of clean and decorative design. Despite initial setbacks, he established himself as a painter, had several significant exhibitions and was a member of many professional organizations.
