Albrecht Dürer (1471 – 1528). Německý malíř jehož dílo vznikalo v období velkých společenských hnutích spojených s reformací. Představuje zlomový okamžik německé gotiky. Jeho tvořivost, energičnost a citlivost vedly ke vzniku bohatého a dokonalého umění. Kontakt s italskými umělci mu umožnil přenést inspiraci renesancí (humanismus, řecko-římský klasicismus, středomořské jasné barvy, atd.) do vrcholící německé gotiky.
