Jan Brueghel starší (1568 - 1625). Vlámský malíř. Syn Pietera Brueghela staršího a zároveň otec Jana Brueghela mladšího. Proslavil se svými zátišími s květinami (jedno z nich dokonce najdeme v Praze). Pro své oblíbené motivy je přezdíván jako „květinový“ Brueghel a případně pro oblíbený materiál jako „sametový“. Na rozdíl od svého bratra Pietera Brueghela mladšího si vypracoval styl individuálnější a odlišnější od stylu malby svého otce. Mnoho jeho maleb vznikalo díky spolupráci s jinými malíři (maloval např. postavy do krajin od jiných autorů a obráceně).
